Hell-o to all!
I hope I 'clicked' on the right spot for an intro. I suppose if you're reading this, something must have meshed correctly.
I haven't cycled in years due to a combination of multiple spinal surgeries and just plain laziness. I was at the Flea Market here in DeLand, Florida(aout 15 miles southwest of Daytona Beach) about 6 months ago and saw an old pair(his & hers) of Murray Monterey® beach cruisers in fantastic condition and was able to scoop'em up for $60.00. Since I'll probably never be a serious, hard-core cyclist, but just someone who enjoys a leisurely pace, wind in the face, wide open space, not in a race kinda ride - I figured these bike's were just what the doctor ordered! (LITERALLY)
You know how dog's and their humans seem to parallel each others personality and even their appearance? Well, apparently this is also true, to some degree, with our bike's. At 48 years old, I seem to have developed into a basic, older model beach cruiser myself. We actually have quite a bit in common. An old single speed, white on beige, laid back model with a bit of rust here and there and the old comfortable wide saddle! Now, if I could train my two Chow-Chows, Joe & Bob, to harness-up and pull me down the street or the beach, going ONLY in the direction that I want to go - well, I reckon that would be pretty lazy!
Anyway, I'm just happy to have found a bike(and one for my wife too) that fit's my current needs and my future expectations for such a great price!
I'm looking forward to 'talking bike' with y'all, as there seems to be a good mix of serious bikers and leisure riders(Peddlers & Coasters!) in this forum.
