I am wanting to switch my Giant TCR to an 11-23 from a 12-25 cassette. Would I need to switch anything else besides the cassette, such as the derailers?

Are you buying the cassette as a complete unit, with locking cap?
I made the mistake of making up my own cassette, custom ordering an 11 tooth cog, but didn't know that the locking cap for an 11 tooth cog is much smaller....D'OH!!
Not sure about the derailleur.

Thanks for that note. It didn't include the locking cap

the locking cap (or whatever it's called :) ) for a 12 tooth cog is far too big for the 11; so much so, that the chain tries to run on the cap rather than the teeth, obviously bouncing the chain all over the place.
It took half an hour for me to figure it out.

if you are going 9 speed to 9 speed, or 10 to 10, then you just need to swap out the cassettes. There is a chance you will need a longer chain.

As long as the new cassette has a lockring, you won't have any problems. Your chain will be fine since you are only moving a couple of teeth different.

That's what I thought, but wasn't completely sure. Thanks for the info everyone!
