I want a new road bike. I found a bike with a frame, bars and wheelset I like. It has 105 shifters, Tiagra fd, Ultegra rd. What do you think would be reasonable for the shop charge to swap out the Tiagra fd for an 105 or Ultegra fd on a new purchase? Thanks.

I've been quoted from $5-15.

On a new bike purchase, I don't think that it's possible to give you a reasonable estimate. It's going to depend on how close the shop's margin is on the rest of the bike and what they think their likelihood is for reselling the unused Tiagra derailleur.

I was quoted $25, but since Performance had an Ultegra FD on sale for $27 after coupon at the time, I wound up doing it myself.
