I got the chance to meet and hear Chrissy speak to my tri-club SDTC this last weekend after she won Kona for the third time. She is a fantastic person, very humble but tough as nails. Not bad looking either. I watched the Ironman via internet feed and saw her performance and remarkable behavior towards all the other participating athletes in the event and observed that whether they were a top pro or the slowest age grouper she treated everyone with deference. She is by far the classiest person in professional sports I have ever had the pleasure to meet and I have met many of the top athletes in the world only to be disappointed upon discovering what pompous jerks most of them are. She inspired me to be a better athlete and person, which is why I changed my plans to make time to see her on short notice. I am not easily impressed. God bless her, may all her dreams come true, and may her desire to use her platform as a superior athlete to do all sorts of other wonderful things come true. That's me and her in the pic.

That would be a nice way to meet someone of that much class. It would probably give me the extra boost to make me actually get somewhere on my workouts to make things better.

Does she always have that positive attitude and smile???

Yes, from what I could tell she seemed to maintain her attitude consistently. In other words she didn't appear to be putting on a show for everyone. It is my personal belief that she is a very spiritual person but I don't know that because of any particular thing she said or did, rather I felt it when in her presence. I believe those Buddhist monks had an effect on her when she lived in close proximity to them in the mountains of India. I was very fortunate to meet her. As far as your workouts are concerned, like Woody Allen said 80% of success in life is showing up. I am probably the slowest athlete in my club but I show up for my workouts and I finish my races unless I can't make the cutoff times, which has happened. Good luck my friend. Just Do It Baby!
