There is no real point of using any type of bulb, be they halogen or quartz, when there are so many great LED lights out there. The bulbs will run hotter, use more power and be more fragile.

I would be concerned that these are not water resistant. If you really want lights used by photographers, go for underwater strobes used in diving. They should be robust enough to withstand rain.

Consider this and you will have a modern light with money left over:

That would be an extremely poor choice as a bike light. Not suitable to mount on either bar or helmet, not waterproof, and draws a whole crapload of power for the amount of light it puts out. Buy a Magicshine for $50 less for the whole thing, waterproof and ready to go. Won't put out quite as much light as two 20w halogens, but it does put out plenty of light, more than one 20w halogen and will run for longer on a battery that weighs 1/10th as much.

The reason why i like them they are dual light " like my setup " is look good on my bike but is also a " safety feature " i just think 1 light is not good that have 2 so that why i have it on my setup and another thing i saw this on this forum as an ad

http://www.trailtech.net/index.html

and some dual lighting
http://www.trailtech.net/helmet_light_kits.html

and i did some search " helmet light kits " and this is what i found " mostly for atv/dirt bike "

So buy two Magicshine lights. It'll cost less than that plus the battery you'd need to run it, it would weigh less even if you used two batteries, it'd put out more light, and it'd be far more reliable; LEDs are not subject to burning out like halogen bulbs.

This is probably going to give the the best bang for the buck. Get two Magicshines and you will have plenty of light and with two you have redundancy. Also you can pick up a Y cable splitter if you want to run both light heads off one battery. Most people with two lights run one on the bar and one on the helmet though. I bought one Magicshine light to loan out to my friends when they go riding with me at night. It has worked great so far. I have used a lot of lights through the years and the Magicshine bike light is the best bang for the buck that I have come across.

Using Optronics housings, an SLA battery, and 20 watt MR16's, you could put together your own kit for a lot less.
