So I am really new to the whole fixed gear thing, but riding a fixed gear lately has been really fun. Although, I didn't know riding a fixed gear came with a judgemental audience. Now I am a bit worried about my purchase. I just bought a GTB 2009 and thought it was really cool. (Remember that I don't know too much about fixies) Just riding it the first day on my college campus I am already getting very different opinions. Someone even told me to return the bike that I bought from the shop and buy a Mercier Kilo TT because it is cheaper and "better." Was wondering what you guys feel about the GTB, I'm starting to doubt if I spent my money wisely.

A lot of people are stoked on GTBs. From what I've seen, they're pretty cool bikes. Screw what people say. If you like it, then you spent your money wisely.

Oh yeah...2009. Missed that detail. At any rate, if you dig your Gutterball, ride the hell out of it. According to GTs site, the components listed are just as good...if not better than...the KTT.
How much did you pay for it? I hope it wasn't up near what the MSRP is.

I hope someone didn't sell you a Gutterball as a GTB at inflated GTB prices.
the gutterball is a nice bike. it's great for 450(what they're going for now) and still a good bike at 550.
the GTB isn't made anymore which is why everyone's making you feel like a big idiot, and it's a phenomenal bike.
the kilo is a great bike too but it's not 'better' than a gutterball in my opinion. it's about the same, just steel so a little different.

But that's only because Alpenrose sold off all of their rentals right? Market is artificially saturated at the moment.

Most of those are technically off the market now though because I've heard tell at least one person is stockpiling a few and many others plan to keep and ride theirs, and I'm sure those who are selling their GTB's are jacking up the price a fair amount because they can.

GTB is the new Pista Concept.

Fixie riders judgmental? You thought your bike was cool?
Seriously though, who cares what other people think? Just ride.

If you had the Kilo TT, someone else would make fun of how common they've become, another would tell you the pro is a much better deal, and yet another would complain about how the storied Mercier brand has been dragged through the southeast Asian mud by opportunistic corporate zombies.
Ride what you like. Sounds as though you picked the GTB b/c you liked that, so great. It's a solid bike. If you want to stick it to the jerks that give you ****, then just ride anything north of 10 mi a week and you'll soon be whizzing past these critics so fast you won't be able to spot their matchy components or tell whether their cigarette is hand-rolled.
Tell any of your friends who razz your ride to suck it.

Just get an aerospoke and then see. Seriously though, nobody's opinion matters under almost any scenario... including mine on this very topic.
