I just started riding and was wondering what's considered spinning? Is it just high rpms at a low resistance? thanks in advance

well I've heard seen people talk about it in terms of actual riding, so I was just wondering whats considered spinning.

I think it's running in too low a gear, something to avoid by changing gears more frequently.

I've heard it used to refer to simply maintaining a high cadence regardless of resistance or setting. IE Lance spins when he is climbing.

high cadence and smooth circular pedaling. as opposed to mashing the pedals on the downstroke.

I think Malhavok has it right-it's simply pedaling at a high cadence(90 rpm or above), vs. mashing bigger gears at a lower cadence(think Ulrich).

This is what I have always considered spinning, :)
