Same here. It would be hell to clean and bees could make nest in the top tube making for a scarry ride.

1050 gms for a frame is nothing to crow about. My R3 is 1020 gms. When one builds it out, it will come in around 15ish depending how much pain your wallet can take. And the aerodynamics look dubious. I will give it novelty appeal.

I would be worried about it being difficult to inspect for cracks.

Saw a bike today and did not have my camera with me. Unusual was not the word- Normal seat tube about half length though- normal headtube and BB. The top tube- downtube- remainder of the seat tube and fork legs were made out of thickwalled piping- about 3/8" od. 4 on the main tubes and the forks had two for each leg I will need a picture to explain it but This was a Car race preparation company. Several other items in the office like a Manx Norton Motorbike and a Fixie with the name "Maserati" on the downtube. The Maserati was a "Roberts" Bike rebadged.

So plenty of wierd bikes around but sorry- it will be a while before I get pics of this one.

I responded in the original thread, but I was told that the aero for the bike AND rider was better with this bike than with a normal bike. Just going by what someone said as I haven't seen a wind tunnel test report. :p

I glanced at the technology section of the website and it struck me that they pitched the materials / weight aspect of the frame. I did not see any mention of aerodynamic advantage. That is why I used the word dubious just in case there was some.:p

Something like using a "normal" Huffy to compare with.

Not a fat boy's bike, is it? Road bikes, in general, just aren't for me.

I evaluated my weight (up there), the terrain that I'd be riding (flat as a pancake), my goals (exercise & errands), and my expectations of the bicycle (safety & durability) and came up with the right choice for me - an Electra Townie coaster brake with additional basket & fenders. I haven't regretted the choice yet!

Agree on the weight issue. My Felt FC1, which is the older model, is 1050 also. I do bet you would be the only one at a group ride to show up with one of those however.

We have CAT1 and CAT2, etc. I think there should be a special category for riders who know the weight of their bikes in grams. <G>
