Cyclocross Racing - Secret to keeping the EC90X beartrap tight?

I figure there are probably a fair number of Easton carbon fork users on here. Maybe somebody can shed some light.

The "beartrap" headset adjuster device that comes stock with the fork never seems to stay tight. Even if I adjust it right before a race it'll have rattled loose by the end. Same goes for any long road rides with it.

Does anyone have any tips for keeping it tight? Is it a lost cause? I've read about other people just ditching it and picking up a regular carbon compression plug.

Something like that should fix it, just measure your steerer and make sure it'll fit. They're used in BMX all the time, but I'm not sure if there are any cross/road specific headset locks.

Ditch it, it sucks ! Bought a really nice FRM plug and after that,; no more loose headset.

My EC90x has a threaded insert and has never loosened. Is the threading in the steer tube a new feature this year?

Picked up a PRO compression plug last week. It made all the difference in the world.
