I am in the process of buying a new set of tires for the bike I am restoring. I have to admit, I have run into a dilemna. I have an LBS that carries the Vittoria brand tires for about $20 each, and they are the Rubino model. I like them, but they have a 60tpi count. The Rubino Pros have a 120 tpi count. Both are Kevlar belted. I am not a racer, but do like lots of riding.
What is the big differance between the ride when you go a higher thread count? Is the 120 tpi really necessary?
I am searching for a tire in the $20-$30 range, but want as good a trie as I can get. Also in a 700x25. I also want a bit of side tread, so I can get good perfomance when it is wet.
Any suggestions? Or would it be a good idea to just stick to the Vittoria Rubinos with a 60 tpi count?
