I am thinking of getting another folder which will replace my damaged dahon speed d7. Durability is my first priority because I got tired of dealing with punctured tires and lousy brakes. Dahon Mu P24 caught my attention because I live in hilly area but I need to know how durable this bike really is before I make a purchase. Also, how is 09 model different from 08 model.

I ride this almost daily, been doing so for more than a year. It is a reliable and good ride. Hills are not an issue for its 24 gears. The Marathon Racer tires on it are also fairly puncture resistant.

Don't know what the difference is between the 09 and the 08 models though.

So you didn't have any issues at all? You got quiet a few bikes bikes how is mu p24 compare to others. Have you tried riding it in rainy weather?

Often folding bike benifiet from telfon coated inner brake cables due the friction inherant in long cable runs. Also you could try a quality brake pad like fibrax or Koolstops.

09/current version has fenders and Radius V Handlepost versus no fenders and radius3 recalled fixed post for the 08 version. the 08 sells for roughly 250 dlr less due to agressive close out pricing.
( fenders are 30 bucks )

The P24 is my main bike. I ride it the most so that tells you which one I like the most for day to day use. :thumb:

Yes, I ride it in rain too, it is fine. I did change the brake pads to kool stops but I am very particular about braking power. The original brake pads were not faulty or anything.

As with most Dahon bikes, you have to tweak some of the nuts in the hinged areas once in a long while but that is no major maintenance.

The Dual Drive is a neat gearbox. I find that I use it more often in street traffic than the 8 gears in the rear cassette simply because it is convenient (it is an IGH, and I can change gears while stationary).

The modifications you see on my Mu P24 were just my personal preferences (example: I wanted my handlepost and handlebar stiffer and fold outwards instead of inwards). I added the rack and fenders because my model did not ship with those.

OK I ordered 2008 model via amazon and expecting it within the next week. Do you think I may get a bike with damaged handle-post. Do they still sell recalled bikes?
