Anyone with knowledge/opinion/comments on KHS road bikes? A bike shop near me has many 2000/2001 models for sale. Thanks.

Funny you should ask. The new Bicycling mag's Buyer's Guide (April 2002) has a good review for the KHS Flite 800 on p. 30. One thing that's impressive is that even their bottom of the line model (about $550) has Reynolds steel tubing.

Oh, yeah, one other thing: check roadbikereview.com There are a couple of reviews of KHS bikes there.

From all I've heard, they're supposed to be pretty nice bikes -- well-specced for a reasonable price. The best part is that they're mostly lightweight steel. KHS doesn't have the race cred of a Trek or a Specialized, but neither of those two companies make quality steel bikes at affordable -- or any -- price.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely looking for a high-quality steel road bike. The low-end KHS model looks like a good value with the exception it uses Shimano Sora components.

PS I'm a newbie to this forum, so thanks for the help!!!

Welcome to the forums. I'd just like to add that one of my bikes is a KHS hybred. It rides well, handles well and gives a comfortable ride. You can up grade the equipment as it wears out or breaksdown. For the money, I think they make an excellent choice.
