Road Bike Racing - I'm going to cycling hell for this...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Erik Zabel enters his first post-TdF race at the Tour de Nuss:

In the end, he's pipped on the line by the little girl in a skirt.

Second again. ;)

I saw a little girl ike that on my way to work the other day(I live neer a school) I was like holy shmoly she movin quick(for a pink bike with tassles and an oversize coat/parachute flaping in the breeze), cadence had to be 110 and over 15mph on a pink banana seat bike is pretty good(paced on motorcycle briefly) probably 9 maybe 10 years old.

Little boy next to him has never seen a grown man in cycling shorts.

She's got the look of a winner. All the other kids are focused his wheel while she's looking at the finish line. You can tell she's dug deep into her little pink backpack of courage.

I would like to point out that if you look more closely you can see that Zabel not the little girl has taken the win. I knew that guy was a champion of champions!

This is even funnier if you imagine it being said with a British accent (Phil Liggett or Paul Sherwen).

Operator - pop open a Molson and chill out. Spring will be here soon!

Sadly, Zabel was awarded the victory after the little girl tested positive for EPO and growth hormones. She is claiming innocence, and blames it on eating cupcakes at her uncle's house.

So that's Frank Vandenbroucke's niece. :)

You know, I had actually typed my original message as "... while at her uncle Frank Vandenbroucke's house." I deleted it because I didn't think it was fair to single him out any more than any of the other riders or teams who have been implicated this year. It's simultaneously funny and sad that the same name came to mind... as well as the fact that there are so many names that could have been substituted.

Must doping ruin a cute thread? Isn't it enough that sports are cast into doubt? This is an adorable picture with no reason to suspect anyone in it of using banned substances.

Sorry Webist, no harm was intended. And I certainly wasn't implying anything about Zabel - I really admire his work ethic and attitude. I have a dry sense of humor at times, so I'm sorry if it ended up being a buzz kill. I've been a bit jaded about pro racing ever since the Tyler Hamilton incident hit the fan. If somebody put a gun to my head and commanded me to name a clean rider, Tyler would have been at the top of my list. I'm waiting to hear his side of the story, but he's going to have to come up with one amazing explanation - and I hope that he can.

On the bright side - imagine how much faster she'll sprint once she gets a custom built 36 cm Pinarello Dogma. Petacchi will be seeing nothing but pink streamers fluttering in the breeze as she dusts him!

A little girl beating Erik Zabel in a sprint?
You don't think she is on drugs?
