I have a Polar 720i and is set up for 2 bikes, how do you keep track of the mileage done by 2 bikes? The odometer is for the total mileage.

G'day spinner,

i'm not sure I follow the question, but I have used the s720 for 12 months....so my best guess is......In 'File' when you tab thru all the info that gets 'filed' in there after every ride, toward the latter part of the info, isn't there information about 'total distance'?....i'd bet that figure relates to which bike you had selected in 'bike setting'....I use mine on 3 different bikes, (just bought 3 speed & cadence transmitters), but i never bother about changing the bike setting....its not relevant to me. Hope this helps,

cheers,

Hitchy

I don't believe that you can separate the two. There is only one odometer reading and it is the sum of both bikes. There is no way that I know of to store individual bike odometer readings.

If this is important to you, you'll have to use a stand alone bike computer along with the 720i.

thanks for the replys. I was interested to know whether you can separate the odometer for each individual bike. Not that's important but its nice to know. Looks like it can't be done.

You can set up the Polar for two different users or you can just manage the different bike information on your PC using the software that came with the device. Depending on how many hours a week you spend on the bike and the sampling rate, you can usually get by with one download session a week and set aside 30 minutes for some quick analysis of your data. That is, unless you want to evaluate your performance after each ride.

FWIW: To get the most out of devices like the high-end Polar and Ciclosport HRMs you really need to spend a lot of time reading through the manuals that come with the device, both the printed data and the on-line help files. There are all kinds of robust features buried in the watches and the software.

Note: In addition to my wife's Polar S720, I have a Ciclosport HAC4. It comes with 3 different software programs and no printed manuals. However, once you get into the help files (I've printed them all out), it's simply amazing how much data analysis you can do.

I have the polar 520, and used to spend lots of time analyzing the data from my workouts. Now I spend that time riding or cleaning the house and find that my training has not suffered, and my marriage is much happier now that I'm doing more around the house. Just a thought. :D

Yes, but Mark also wrote in that same thread:

Once you get over the learning curve, it's all about moderation. Kinda of like posting to lists... if you can type 125wpm (or do they call it keyboarding these days?) you can do THIS stuff rather quickly particularly when you skip the emoticons.
