Hey all! Nice to meet you.

So I decided to build my own commuter bike after being dissatisfied with the available pre-assembled bikes in my price range. I bought a Pake C'Mute frame (http://www.pakebikes.com/pakemute.html) and a Campy VL 68x111 English thread bottom bracket. I chose this particular BB to go with a Campy Veloce double crank that I was given. When I went to install the BB I found that it wouldn't even thread into the BB shell. I double checked to make sure the BB shell on the C'Mute was 68 and that the BB is 68. I thought it should fit.

The campy instructions do say that you should
Rework the threading of the bottom bracket cage using the specific Campagnolo tool. . Will this fix the problem? If so I can just have my LBS take care of it, right?

do you have an italian or english threaded bottom bracket on the bike and what are the bottom bracket threads , italian or english =?????

If you check out the link to the Pake C'Mute frame you can see all it says is 68mm BB shell. The campy bb I ordered says it is english. I will email Pake and see what they say. Thanks for the response.

Fortunately, I managed to avoid what I assume is a common "new guy" mistake. Although, now I am second guessing and will have to give it another try when I get home. :)

The bottom bracket shell likely needs to be chased. Your headtube may need to be milled as well. Common for many new, bare frames.

Even for a pake that would be a very ****ty frame build quality control if you can't even get a bb started.

try to screw it in again .
remember when the bike is on the stand or where ever it is . english will tighten when screwing the bottom bracket towards the rear stays . and loosen when screwing towards the fork . both sides ..

Figured it out! There was a screw in the bottom of the shell holding some plastic wire guide or something on. This screw was sticking up enough in the shell to contact the body of the bb, so it would never get far enough into the shell to contact the threads correctly. That is a relief.

I've always chased the BB threads on every bike that came through our shop. It's good practice as far as I'm concerned.

That's the cable guide for your shifter cables. You'll need to file the screw down so it's shorter but still holds the guide in place.

File or space it out. Or get a correct length screw heh.
