Nice bike, good form and I'd envisioned you fatter.
Seat could be a little higher ... maybe Depends on how much you care to flex your feet. Overall you appear at ease.

What size frame?
Mr. Beanz

57 sloping top tube, fork tube uncut.
From that picture, your fit looks fine.

Actually I don't that bike fits you very well. You would look meaner on a black frame. You can send it to me since I look abfab in yellow. Am I doing this right?

Flip it, you're not in the 53-11, your jersey is too loose, you're not struggling enough, your legs aren't shaved! Sound roadie enough for ya. Otherwise not bad.

Hey, it was uphill and the a headwind blowing about 30 mph or else I would!:D I WAS the only one up there today!:D As far as the jersey, only one I can afford. Shaved legs? Gina wore out our razor!:p
Hey Timmy, my other bike is a real dark blue, close to black. I do look pretty mean on it though, ask Homey!:D...This is my beater bike! I'd send it to you but I just built the back wheel so I'm still breaking it in!;)

When I bought the bike, they asked how low a cut did I desire. The dude said he coud leave it uncut for more height. I didn't really know much about the new threadless set ups. Left it long so it's easier to stay in the drops longer. No that I ride the drops much ,but even the hoods are easier to reach.
I'm not a racer so the race lower setup was not appealing to me. Rec rider so the relaxed reach is much better for my style.:D

YA blue would make you more mean looking, especially with your grimace. As far as the new wheel goes, send that to me since I am good at breaking them:)

Hey Beanz, wasn't it uphill both ways into a 30mph headwind! You also forgot to tell them about shoveling all the snow off the road (with a hand shovel of course) before your ride as well. :D
btw, It's smart to leave your fork stem uncut. It allows you to easily adjust your bar height should you want to. I race with my bars very low and raise them about 1 1/4" for randoneuring type rides.

I had the same problem so I started building my own. It's not really that tough, give it a try.
I had this rim and hub sitting in my closet for 10 years. Shimano 600 hub (old Ultegra) so I paid $15 for spokes and built it up myself. 500 hudred miles already!:thumb:
It's a 28 hole. I'd rather have 32 but for $15, it's good till I find a deal on a new 32 V. I once found a V on a clearance rack for $25!:thumb:

Well I didn't wanna brag!:p....Actually the way down was funny. With the tailwind I was rolling at 37 in a tuck when usually I'm doing about 27 pedaling. The tailwind section parallels the 15 fwy. Looking over at the drivers watching me roll along side the fwy is funny.:D
I ride parallel to a highway for a short bit sometimes too. It's fun when you are going faster than them.

You have a major problem here, your feet are way below your body and what's with that teeny little saddle?
You should strive for a fit more like this guy:

Too much air in those tires
Hi
What's the problem with too much air? I normally inflate my tyres to the top rated presure (130lbs on current tyres). Or were you simply being facecious and I didn't catch on?
Cheers

Shoes and jersey matched to frame. Nice.
Helmet and gloves matched, but not to bike/outfit. 2 point deduction.
Mismatched tires and hairy legs mean you forfeit your roadie card.
Bike fit seems fine, but it's not like anyone can really tell from a still shot at a forward angle. Good pic, though!

It was a joke Tallmantim! 10Wheel's always got too many young wimmin s round him to be serious!:D
Actually Clifton, the gloves have blue and yellow in them, they match the bike. The helmet, ok, on epoint deduction.:p
Mismatched tires, yes, Armadillo, take the roadie card!:D
It's hard to tell from a picture, but if you're comfortable on it, it must fit.
But, since this is the internet and facts ain't required to express an opinion....looks to me like you might be on a frame one step smaller than perfect.

No No No, you got it all wrong.
You look way too comfortable. Drop the bars by two inches and raise the seat by four inches. Also, your gear combo is off. All the cool kids are cross chaining.

Hehe.. I was about to say the same. But I have to add one thing, your body is positioned like a sail on the bike. Good for tailwind, bad for headwind. :D

My other bike is a 58, this one is a 57. The 57 feels better than the 58 but honestly, I think it has to do with geometry. Some have made comments that the 58 looks big and others say the 57 looks small. May have to do with the fact that this bike is a sloping toptube while the other is a traditional straight top tube.
Eventhough one looks bigger, side by side, they are just about the same. This sloping TT shows way more seatpost than the other only because of the slope. I measure from the sweet spot onthe seat to the center spinlde on both bikes, and they are the same, so maybe just be an illusion of the slope!:D
Funny thing, the 58 looks bigger but the 57 feels bigger when mounted. Might have to do with the taller headtube.;)

Good for comfortable LD riding. I look about the same on mine. Bars almost even with the saddle, body positioned very upright; like a touring bike setup. I know the LD and ultradistance racers spend days at a time on the hooks or leaned over on their aeros, but I wouldn't be comfortable for more than about 3 hours like that.

I'm starting to think you would be more comfortable and more aero with a larger frame that had a longer top-tube and head tube. You might lower the handlebars a few mm. The aero & fit benefit would come from having an arch from your shoulders to your hips. Your existing fit puts your shoulders high and your elbows under your shoulders. Your body would benefit from a slightly lower shoulder positions with your hands further out front.
Keep in mind that an extended steering tube on a fork shortens the reach. This is OK, if the frame has a long enough top-tube.

Look at Mr. Beanz' left leg. His knee looks at almost full lock-out, and his toe is pointed way down. If anything the saddle is too high, unless he's up off the saddle a bit (which he might be since he's climbing).
Beanz, if you're comfy, your fit is fine. If things start aching as you increse your distance, look at lowering your saddle a touch.

If you check out his right leg, he's strongly toe-down on that side, too. Could be a number of things (can't discern from a photo):
1) Saddle a little too high (stretch to reach bottom of stroke)
2) Climbing slightly off saddle (natural compensation, not a problem)
3) Cleats too far forward (overcompensation for ankle vs. pedal spindle distance)
#3 was my problem before I got fitted for LD riding. Moving the cleats back toward the mid-foot puts less pressure at the ankle by shortening the lever distance from the ankle to the pedal spindle. It means you put less effort into keeping your ankle at the correct position and can spare it towards endurance. You're also less prone to hot spots by moving the pressure platform under a stronger, wider area of the foot.
Cleats back for LD, cleats forward for sprinting.

You look a little cramped and upright but that may be an ideal position for you.. Some people prefer a more upright position it is more comfortable over a long haul.. In order to judge saddle height you need a side angle photo that shows you at the bottom of your stroke..
Mr. Beanz
10-22-09, 02:36 PM
OK, again today, 40 miles but no wind. I was able to "bigchainring" it without the wind. 53/11 at 30 miles an hour uphill for the picture. But in all fairness, it was the
second day so the legs weren't fresh. Plus this is my beater bike so if I was on my other mean bike, I might have been able to hit 32 up the hill.
Lost the color coordination but I got a smile this time!:D
53/11 at 30 mph........ok, not really!:P

Actually there is a slight bend in my knee. I start out by placing my bare heel on the pedal at the 6 oclock position. Ballpark the fit then fine tune form there. I'm prety careful about not overextending BUT! I would have to say that I installed a new saddle, same model etc. We were ona ride when Markadam noticed my hips rocking alittle bit. It was right afte I installed the new saddle and did figure out that it was a little too high. I lowered it and felt a big difference in power. I just thought I was having a bad day!:D..But that's al taken care of now.
Good eye Mark!:thumb:

Yup, I prefer the upright as I'm a rec rider not a racer. I'd be more likely to do a century than a race. But the bike feels real nice like I lay across the top. Guy at the shop said it's more of a Euro race geo rather than the crit geo of my Cannondale. Plus I'm thick waisted so I prefer the upright, hence the uncut forktub.:D

The brake surface wore to thin. Started to work it's way outward, maybe a 1 inch section. Never went out of true but I figure I would avoid any catastrophic failure buy removing it. Still true though, but has a bubble type blemish and a thump[ thump while braking.:(
20,000 miles, aint bad. Bummer, bad got my use out of it.:thumb:
Just waiting to find another ti grey V rim at a good price, then I'll build it back up with the 32 hole.
