For some reason this morning on the predawn ride there was a bit of lightning around. I have no idea where it came from because I haven't seen a cloud in a week! Either way, it made for an absolutely awesome setting! If it wasn't enough to see the light show across the South Pacific (or Point Danger in the later kilometres), I also got to watch the moon set on the other horizon, and ride through patches of fog which were lit up like ghosts on the inland jaunt to find some hills!
The most awesome ride since, well, since Sunday!

Man, now I have "For Whom The Bell Tolls" stuck in my head. Think I'll run out to the truck and get my Metallica mp3 CD.

Chris, that's awesome. I need to start getting out more for early rides, as there are fewer people on the roads and the quiet is amazing. Not that I get spectactular light shows when I'm out. When I get my new light, I'll be the light show. :)
uh.. you know you can get hit by that lightening.. right?
and why is that fat legged man dancing in your post?

Friend of mine (many years ago) was hit by lightning while cycling home from work.
His name was Alan Crisp
He survived, by the way.

I once rode in a full on lightning storm. I decided I would count the seconds between the flash and the roar of the thunder to calculate how far away it was. I saw the flash and then didn't even get to one before the thunder shook me. It was a wild ride.

I also know that every moment of our lives is a calculated risk, and that by comparison to the risks we all take every day, the probability being struck by lightening is negligible.

You mean you don't remember that guy?
Incidentally, we got another storm on the ride home from work last night. Highly unusual for this time of year, but another spectacular light show, with beautiful (i.e. 19 degrees C) rain. The ride through the remnants of it in Austinville Valley this morning was pretty special, too.

Hammer time!
You know, Chris, if you weren't so personable, some people would rankle at your gloating.
