RR and I just finished our ride from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. I did a full report on a word doc along with pictures and it turned out to be about 110 mbs. To big to post anywhere. So I started a blog and posted it there with all the pics.

I posted the whole trip in one blog. Maybe should have broken out into multiple days but it is what it is. Hope you read and enjoy.

Awesome. What a great write up and pictures also! I travel most of the route every year on the AIDS/Lifecycle ride with the exception of Monterey through Cambria. We go inland and then back out. We even stay at the park in Lompoc and also do that descent. Santa Barbara is one of my favorite places in the world!

Thanks for posting!

We considered doing it as a group ride for a couple of years now but decided we wanted to just do it on our own. We have other friends that do the AIDS ride and have seen the reports and pics and it looks like a lot of fun. I always wondered why that ride goes inland at Monterey to Cambria. That is one of the most beautiful places to ride a bike in the US. Is it because of the numbers and the narrow road? Just wondering.

"""....Monterey to Cambria. That is one of the most beautiful places to ride a bike in the US..."""

+1....We love the views, enjoy the small towns and enjoy riding our Tandem on the central coast as well...it is definitely something special dispite some of Hwy 1's traffic....some of the inland alternatives are pretty cool as well but nothing in these parts beats that stretch of coastline! Thanks for the great write up...glad you guys had a good trip.
