I have recently purchased a nightrider cyclone HID headlight for my mountain bike. When I go out biking about half the time I go on trails and the other half on the road. I have to say that I am very impressed so far with the light output and the runtime is just insane. The first time I charged it up the light lasted 2hrs. and 10mins., the 2nd charge lasted 2hrs and 55mins., and now after my third charge it has lasted 4hrs. and 42 mins. They say in the paperwork with the light that it takes five-ten charges for the battery to reach full capacity. I don't know if the battery will last any further with a few more charge cycles, but already I am more than impressed with it. I have used a 30 watt dual halogen setup and also a 15 watt spot halogen setup. The problem with those is the burn time sucks bad the 15 watt spot was giving me 1.5 hrs and the 30 watt dual when run together would last less than an hour. I found myself using the 15 watt spot setup along with the 10 watt flood bulb in my 30 watt dual seup. This gave me 25 watt halogen total for 1.5 hours which was not enough for me. The battery weight of using two setups was also not cool. So anyway now I have far more light, far my runtime, and far less weight. The battery weight wasn't a huge issue as I am good size at 6'1" and 210lbs solid as I love to bodybuild more than anything. I went for a ride tonight with my friend who has a 32 watt halogen setup and it was no comparison between his setup and the HID one I have. I think my buddy was not happy when I told him my light ate his for breakfast and his light started dying at about an hour at the full 32watts lol. Also since I have the helmet mount he kept telling me not to turn my head in his direction as it was blinding him. I have been wanted to stay out riding for more than the 1.5 hrs of burntime I used to have with my halogens and now I can stay out 3 times as long if I felt like it. Anyway I paid just over $300 for the cyclone HID system which is a lot of loot, but after seeing what the HID could do, it was worth it to me. I give the niterider cylclone 2 thumbs up here and also like the idea of getting up to 6 hours of burn time if i kicked the light level down a notch.

I have the flamethrower handlebar mount version, but I also have the digital evolution so I can attach the flamethrower to my helmet. I have gotten 6 hours on the low setting which is fine for multi use paths which are deserted at night. I have been off paths on the trails on medium which is usually plenty and love having the high when things get rough. Best thing about this light is the LED's. I can take the thing when we go bike camping and use the LED's for hours on end with no noticeable drain on the battery. I had the same problem as you 1.5 to two hours just wasn't enough, especially in the winter when it's dark by 5ish. I usually mount it on the handlebar to prevent blinding co-riders and helmet mount on solos. I also cover it with my hand when approaching people since the last thing I want coming at me is a person who is blinded by the light!

One trick I learned is don't turn it off when you stop for a break just go to the low setting. Restarting the light seems to drain the battery more than just leaving it on and I have heard that starting it more often will shorten the life of the bulb.

This is the light to make all those European Sports Car Drivesr envious!!
