Pacific Northwest - Trainning partner

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is it to soon to be looking for a trainning partner for races in the spring?
Yes I am new to cycling (year and 1/2 riding) and I am very fit @ 54 y/o. So really I'm looking for a Trainning partner/Coach.
I have some goals I want to reach and the first is to ride a race (Sea Otter Classic) with my brother who lives in Monterey Ca. I also want to ride some events here in Washington. STP, RAW. I also just bought a MTB bike for cross trainning.
I live in Auburn and will be joining the Cascade Bicycle Club to learn also.
I can use any help or advice.

You're off to a good start and plan. Cascade rides are great and very helpful. I started there and worked my way up doing various Cascade rides like Chilly Hilly, STP, etc. before moving on to a team which is the next level...
You should check out the WA race site: http://www.wsbaracing.com. Lots of info there including Meet the Teams rides going on now: http://wsbaracing.com/meet_the_teams
Hope that helps.
Thank you jazzyrider.
Thanks for the links and the info. The racing site is great and I'm sure I will be entering some races.
Do you know where there are some good MTB trails for begginers.
I just sent off my membership to Cascade and joined wsbaracing.

Here's a link to some beginner's trails =>

Lake Sawyer near Kent/Auburn is also a good trail too. The above link is from Evergreen MTB club formerly BBTC, another well known club similar to Cascade but for MTBers.

Evergreen also holds Mountain Bike Bootcamps and beginner rides. Very friendly folks, they love to get new riders. You can find lot's of information on their main website:

Yeah you're on the right track. You'll meet so many people when you join a club or team. Don't be afraid to "shop around' for a club, because different clubs have different focuses and you'll have to find one to match your goals.
