Is there any competition between the Motobecane Messenger, Windsor Clockwork and Kilo TT?

My friend is also looking at the Schwinn Madison, on sale for $400 (plus shipping). He's kind of a cheapskate, so he'll want the best deal. I can't see him upgrading components. He wants a freewheel at first, and he may switch to fixed--so he'll definitely need brakes!

Suggestions?

Come on now, he never said anything positive, negative or otherwise about BD. He merely asked a question and solicited an opinion from the masses about some bikes which all happen to be sold by BD. I agree that he should search but he could be new and not accustomed to using the feature. Not every thread about BD is someone trying to sell you on them :rolleyes:

I ride a Windsor Hour, love it and have had no problems. There is a 13432423423 page thread on Kilos, they look classy.

motobecane track 2010 as the cheap alternative to all.

They're all roughly the same at each price point.
