BTW - I am in no way trying to sell a bike on this forum. I am just looking for some advice on my first road bike purchase.

Around here you could buy a left over 09 cross bike at a shop for 20% off, an 08 model for 30% off.

I personally would not pay more than 60% of retail for any three year old used bike. This bike would probably be worth a lot less to me. Mismatched rims and tires, don't like the stem. It must have a MTB handlebar if it's using hydros. On Brodies website for 06 they don't show the bike as frame only.

How much is the seller asking for it may be a better question.

Seller is asking $750 CDN and advertised it as an 06 Romax B - Team. I told the seller there wasn't a B-Team in 06. He said he worked at a bike shop, bought the frame and added components. He mainly used it as his winter bike. I was thinking of taking it to a LBS to have them check it out for me but want to make sure the seller and I are in agreement on a price range before that.

I've just started looking for a road/cross bike. Ideally I would love a new Jake the Snake but i'm shying away from the price. The other bike I am looking at new is a devinci tosca which would only cost me a couple hundred more than this used one.

Seems quite difficult to by a decent used starter bike. Lots of hybrids and MTBs out there, but so far the road/cross bikes have had slim pickings.

Too much money IMO for that bike.

I would only pay that much if it were exactly the bike I wanted, without having to change anything.
