I’ve been riding in the “19mph” group of Portland Velo’s Saturday morning ride. This has been great but doesn’t work well with my schedule. I’m trying to find a regular Sunday morning ride. I’d like something 40-60 miles with enough riders to form the occasional pace line. Any suggestions?

The only thing I’ve seen is the Portland Wheelman’s Sunday morning ride which is described as:

Sunday Morning Ride:
Distance 20-90 miles. Leaves at 9:00 a.m. from the Tri-Met Park & Ride, NE 96th & Sandy Blvd. Riders meet and sign in, then ride wherever they want. Ride maps will be available. Non-group ride. Levels A/B/C/D. Ride leader: Greg & Sharon Baker 503-287-7019

Has anyone been on this ride? Do they get enough folks to ride or are there other suggestion for a Sunday ride?

Thanks, Scott

Scott, this KRhea, president of Portland Velo. I have an on again, off again Sunday morning group ride from the SW side starting at Wilson High School. It's a 4hr ride and however far we go/we go.
Pace rolls out at about 15-17 through Portland out to Hwy 30 where the pace quickens to 19. We typically roll around Sauvie's Island and head back into town at about 19 to 23mph, then slow to "in town speed" back to Wilson.

This is not an "official" PV ride but one that I fairly regularly. We can have anywhere from 2 or 3 riders to as many as 10 or 15.

If you're interested in getting on my email list for this ride hit me with a direct email:

Hmmm... I might try it out. The start isn't that far from me... but I used to work for Sharon. (We both still work for Legacy, but she's in a different group now.) Might be a little conflicted there...
