I'm installing hydraulic brakes on a bike that only has cable stops. I'm thinking about drilling out the stop and re-bleeding the brake to run the hose through the guide this would provide. Any better ideas?

It'll be all but impossible to drill along the frame to allow the hose to fit through the braze on. The drill motor and chuck will prevent you from getting a good angle. Also most of the hoses I've seen are so close to the size of the brazeons that it's likely you'd drill out the metal.

Just do what everyone else does and zip tie them on.

I'd protect the neighboring paint with some masking tape and file them out. Cleaner.
But first check that the hose diameter is suitable for the insides of the stops.

I'll measure the diameter of the hose and the ID of the stop and try filing if it's close. I'd really prefer not using zip ties or something goofy.

I think the Gripper guides that Fool pointed at are far less "goofy" than trying to hog out the existing stops:

plus, you'll be able to change the bike back later if you change your mind.

Besides, zip ties hold the Universe together.
