Framebuilders - Help with Serotta frame damage

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know this is not really within the intended use guidelines for this forum, but it's definitely outside my personal expertise. I'm looking at buying a Serotta Atlanta which has some dents in the frame from a garage mishap. I know nothing can be absolutely determined by looking at the pix, but I was hoping someone could give me a general "run away" or "go for it". Thanks for the help.

There are a lot of experienced builders on the forum who probably know better than I do, but me personally, I would ride it to see if it feels solid and will hold a straight line, if it does, offer them $75 for the frame and ride it as long as it holds up then throw it away, it may last for quite some time. Some people might consider replacing one tube but I wouldn't put any money into repairing it considering repainting and all, you can find a nice steel frame on ebay for half of what it will cost to fix this. Just my opinion.

Better be dirt cheap.
