I am riding in the right turn lane approaching an intersection with red light. JAM in an oversized pickup decides he MUST swing into the through lane to gun it and pass me. JAM nearly hits the rear end of a car stopped in the though lane at red light when he swerved back into the right turn lane to cut me off. As he swerved, his dog on the tool box in back of the truck, almost went flying off. As the JAM slowed down a little for the red light, the dog regains its balance and, being a cyclist lover, arched it’s back and did a huge dump on JAMs tool box.

I am hoping karma is not done with the JAM and when he hits his brakes, a turd rolls down between the tool box and cab, where JAM cannot get to it and it stinks up his truck for months.:thumb:

I used to let my dog ride in the back...he loved it. I always took it easy though. I've seen some people leash them to the center of the bed so they won't jump out, but this tends to jerk them around by the neck. It's just never a good practice to put them back there unless of course they're in a dog box.

When properly leashed into a bed, they are supposed to have a body harness on, not attached to the collar. And if properly leashed, then I'd say it's about equivalent to having them free in the back of a car(less maybe a rollover).

Yeah, a harness would certainly be the way to go. It's a shame how little some people think when it comes to their pets.

Rather see a dog in the back of a truck than a youngster. But, that's no way to treat a dog.
