A bit harder finish to this years race, but I think not hard enough to completely preclude the sprinters. No guns allowed at the start, so VDB will not be riding. Bettini, Freire, Rebellin, Zabel, and a cast of hundreds. Go Mirko!

I think you meant "go Bettini!"

Youch. Go easy on VDB there, Don.

I'd like to see Ullrich take it again. But if it comes down to a sprint, it'll be whatever Quick.Step rider makes the selection.

Here's a link to the start list (http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2004/worldcup04/hew04/?id=startlist).

Rebellin should be quite rested. But how much can one guy win in a season?

Rebellin, Celestinao and Zabel. Freire, Paolini, and Lombardi as outside shots.

I'd like to see someone like Magnus Backstedt roll through there and triumph. I was sorry to see him leave the Tour de France.

Any chance they'll at least mention this on OLN? :(

Does anyone know of the gradient/length of those climbs? When I try to magnify the profile, everything is just too blurry to read.

I would guess that either Ullrich or Zabel will finish in the top 5. Besides them, I have no idea who is on good form.

O'Grady gets his first WC win. I forgot about him. :)

One week after the TDF and Ullrich races and attacks towards the end of a WC race. Where's Lance? :)

Periodization, Laggard, Periodization. He's no longer on his "period". :D

He must have a pretty short period. That almost puts him in the menopause category! :D

Dang it, I checked OLN and didn't see they had coverage of the race. Did I miss it?

I'm going to tune in to Eurosport.com from now on. :(

By the way, I know that Lance raced in Germany yesterday. He and Georgie finished 4th at the Luk Challenge.

Julich and Voigt finished first, I was very happy to read that.
