Hi everyone

In the many tire threads I have I seem to remember people saying that the TG was slower than the regular Pasela? Am I remembering correctly? Does it make up for "slowness" by gaining in "flat-freeness"? I ride on a mix of unpaved and paved roads.

I run Pasela TG 700x32 on the tandem, Pasela (non-TG) 700x32 on my single brevet bikes, and for "important" events (like a solo 600K or a 1200K) I ride on Grand Bois 700x30.

Among the Pasela's, the TG's are definitely a bit slower than the non-TG's. Frequency of flats has been about the same with either type of Pasela. I run the TG's on the tandem because the cost of a flat is potentially higher if it causes a crash, and because the extra rolling resistance is more neglible relative to the power of two riders. I don't think flats are as much of a problem out here as they are in places that have goathead thorns.

The Grand Bois are a noticeably nicer and faster tire to ride. Frequency of flats has been about the same as either of the Pasela's. Really, a much nicer tire.

But the Pasela's are sure "good enough" for regular brevets. And at $15 apiece for the Pasela (non-TG) versus $45 or so for the Grand Bois, I don't ride the latter very much.

Out of curiosity, where do you get your GB tires at? I've not found them for less than ~60 USD (58 at VBP).

Sorry, my pricing is evidently out of date. I bought four of them direct from Bicycle Quarterly in about May of 2007. Haven't looked at prices since then. Sounds like the Pasela's are now an even better (relative) deal.
