Pho Nam #4 in Sunnyvale, conveniently located between 7/11 and a Karaoke bar :roflmao2: has some good stuff. The broth is flavorful, not over salted, good amount of meat, but not too much. Although a bit too much noodles. I had it with Tripe and Tendon. The Tendon was very tender almost falling a part when picked up with chopsticks. The portions are huge. I mean small was pretty damn big. I can't imagine ordering large. Although this is true of other Pho places I have been to. I wonder if it's just Americanized portions?

Yes, the pho bowls in the USA are much much larger than the bowls Vietnam.
I had the most mindblowing pho in SF a couple weeks ago. It was at Turtle Tower on Geary in the Richmond (though I guess they have a second location in the Tendo at Larkin). I had #6, North Viet style beef pho with wide home-made noodles that they pan-fry first then put in the broth. Lots more/different veggies than your usual pho, the broth was delicious, chunks of steak were tender and good quality, and the pan-fry flavors brought a deepness to the bowl that I had never had before.

I suspected that. When I was in Thailand I saw portions that were eating, and they were much much smaller then stuff served here (also quite different). Interestingly portions from street vendors that "locals", and me, ate at were also smaller then in the restaurants that tourists frequented. Damn I miss that place. :(

the one on Geary is the 2nd location. Larkin is the original, and nothing compare to it. Northern style is very much different than Southern. I love Turtle Tower.

You're on. There must be something decent near there or on the way home.

This is where I went. Location is meh, but food is good and service is fast. It is right near 101.
I can take of early (I am guessing there will be socializing on top of Hamilton), so I can ride back change and meet the gang there.

Ahh, nice. I just ate there tonight after Planet Granite. Though the location is meh, it is still easy to get to. I second the good food. Though it was slow there when we went, we got our food within 2 mins, no exaggeration.

And as an added bonus, the next day you can read a whole issue of Bicycling Magazine in one sitting.:D

Hmmm...I guess you'd truly find out if it's possible to have too much of a good thing if you tried to finish that bowl. Holy cow.
