Greets! I'm Jeff, from southern Louisiana (Cajun country). Near Houma, for those of you in the area. I am already suffering from internet-forum-itis, and just when I thought I was in recovery, I stumbled across bikeforums.net.
Gee, thanks...
Anyway, I was going to just lurk and not contribute, but I saw the extensive subforums here, and I have interests in several: Commuting, Long Distance, Clydesdales (barely), choppers/freakbikes, Mechanics, Lighting, Utility, etc. etc. etc...
So I decided to add yet another stop on my e-hangout list. Here's some shots of my steeds:
An OCC Stingray, rescued from the trash. I smoothed the frame, built 24" and 26" wheels for it. Rear has a Sturmey XRD8 drum 8-speed hub, laced in a crow's foot pattern. I recently rode this bike 115 miles in an MS tour.

Also I am trying to sell my car (a supercharged Saturn Ion) to live within my means... and will therefore start commuting to work by bike. I have a fairly cheap Schwinn aluminum hardtail MTB I am converting for commuting duty. I've put a rack, and Kenda Kwest 1.5" tires on the bike since this picture. I'll probably be upgrading to dynamo lights and panniers once I sell the car. :( But hey, that's why I'm here! :thumb: Moral support. If I go without a car long enough, I'll spring for an Xtracycle Free Radical to haul stuff in. With $500 extra a month, it won't take long to save up for it.

Personally, I'm a goofy, wacky guy. I'm a musician, father of 4, a homeschooler, mechanic, computer tech, etc. etc.
So anybody from the area, holler back! I feel like I'm the only one out here that isn't the stereotypical roadie...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
