Hybrid Bicycles - bar end mirror for my hybrid bike

I need a mirror that sticks out further for my Canondale road warrior bike. Right now am using a Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror. I always have to lean over to be able to see around my body,I don't like having to do this all the time. Are there any better ones out there people are using ? thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Helmet or eyeglass mirror or go old school with a handlebar mount/cruiser mirror (the 8"-9" long rod models seem to be popular). The stick-on to the inside of your glasses micro mirrors aren't for everyone. The bar end mirrors are pretty similar in size, length, and adjustments...and the flexible arm ones are too flexible/loses its adjustment or bounce around too much to be of any use.

The mirror you described is very good,if you are a big heavy person,it may not fit right for you,sci fi is right ,try one of those old school mirrors,it may not look cool but it might just work.

You didn't cut the handle bar.did you?

thanks for the input guys.No I didn't cut the bar.....am a big person. I'll have to give a helmet mirror a try,never tried one.I have no idea how I'll like it. thanks again !

I'm sorry,I actually described the problem all wrong,it's not that the mirror doesn't stick out far enough but that this Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror doesn't tilt inward towards me thus I have to lean over to see what's behind me. Is there a good bar end mirror that would meet this requirement of tilting inward ?

If this is your mirror,you can rotate in any direction,i am skinny and i removed the top piece of the bracket,it vibrates a lot less this way.

You only need to losen the bolt which secured the mirror inside the bar ( the one you can see in your pic ) ,then you rotate and adjust rest of the bolt/bracket to fit your riding style.Just like the way i have on my bike,good luck.

yes but if I rotate the mirror so that's it's lower then my arm blocks the view of the mirror.If i put it up it gets in the way of the bar end when I grip it.

could you give me a link to the model your talking about ? BTW I found this bar end mirror while looking for the blackburn,thought I would pass it along.Sort of reminds me of one of those make up mirrors with lights surrounding it for illumination :-) never saw anything like it.......

I used a Blackburn Multi. I like the long oval.

I had mine rigged a bit different than normal. I strapped it in an upright position to my bar end extension. Gave me a better view of more road to the rear.

Yes, it's fully adjustable. The joint is strong enough to hold the position you set it in, but if you sideswipe something if folds right up.

My experience is that this mirror was constantly in need of readjustment, and was a real bear to install on my 7.3FX. :( YMMV.

Whenever it got a little loose, I tightened the ring just above the joint. That would fix if for several more rides.

Another vote for the Blackburn, I've got one on each of my commuters (flat bars, not drops). It does fall out occasionally, I've learned to keep my eye on it and keep it tight. Only Blackburn product I'll buy, even worse, the only place I can find it is the local PerformanceBike.

Mine is somewhere along M131 south of Grand Rapids, MI. By now traffic and the state highway dept. have probably taken care of it.

My preference now is the Mirrycle - I need to get a picture that shows the OP how my installation works.

If you would just adjust that Myracle up a little bit, you would get some side to side adjustment.

You might be surprised how high it can be, and not be in the way of the bar ends.

Went to the a Blackburn Multia Mirror when I added the bar ends, as I broke my other mirror trying to get it to bend to where it was working right! It really bends anyway you want but it does do a bit of "bouncing" that the other mirror didn't, FYI.
