Rode into DC from Old Town Alexandria today via the Mt. Vernon trail with a plan to capture photos of my wife running the Marine Corps Marathon. Failed to find her (eMail updates of her location to my phone didn't work), but took some shots of a pretty day and lots of humanity running around anyway.

Awesome Pictures!!!! How did she like the marathon? I like the balloons with 4:15 pacers picture. Actually I like them all, but I read a few articles about the pacers, and remembered the balloons in the articles

Thank you for the photos, and for reminding me I need to ride that trail sometime.

Mrs. Herbie had a good run in spite of waking up with a bit of a migraine leftover from Saturday. She was targeting a 4:20 (something about beating Oprah's time?), and was looking like she was going to close the deal until a bit of a bonk around mile 17 or so... ended up with a 4:30 and change.

Here she is finishing a 5k in Ohio this summer...

Tell her GREAT JOB!!!! There is no way after my last migraine that I would be even able to do a 5k the next day, let alone a marathon. It wiped me out. I hadn't had one in over 7 years according to my wife and kids, and all I did was vomit, drink fluids and try to sleep in a quiet and dark place.

GREAT JOB DONE!!!!

Nice photos. I've tried to photograph friends in the Boston Marathon coming through the 25 mile mark in Kenmore Square, and it's difficult even with chips in the shoes, since you need to be near a computer or other such device. It takes a lot of concentration and focus, since the opportunity is fleeting. Besides everybody is so disheveled by that time, many all look the same.

Distinguishing garb is the most useful, I think.

It's Marine Corps, not Marine Corp.
