Nice.

Here. (http://www.tourofamericasdairyland.com/schedule/bluemounds-description.php)

And I'm not sure if that race/cyclo-sportif will actually pull down 2000 riders. Seems mighty optimistic.

I've seen one possible date of 8/14 or 15 (on the organizer's Facebook page), if I'm not mistaken that's the same weekend as Race the Lake (based on 2009 sked), Mauston RR and from what someone else pointed out Downers Grove. (can't speak to Downers Grove but the other dates are accurate...)

I saw that in the paper this morning. Looks awesome. I definitely want to do it.

Maybe optimistic for year 1, but not outlandish. The area's better known non-race "challenge rides" (HHH, DLD) are capped around 1000 riders and fill up. (Not sure what the WSC draws - Wiswell?) A nationally marketed race that's open to racers and non-racers could draw a lot of people, especially after it builds for a few years.

It's perfect for someone like me - not a racer but I'd get to pretend for a day. And I assume there are a lot more like me than licenced racers.

Also ... 6 miles from my house.

Wright Stuff Draws 500-600.

Also, it's within a few weeks of Ironman so some of that 2,000+ crowd would come for practice.

Count me in...I'm sure it's a much more challenging course than RTL. I was just thinking yesterday about how much fun RTL was and wishing there were more events like it. This sounds awesome.

The 2010 Dairyland Dare is scheduled for 8/14. Chip timed, 100K, 200K, and 300K with an expected draw of 1,500 for year 5. I see most of the the USCF crowd at Downers and most of the endurance folks at the Dare. I've posted a note on the Centurion site advising dates other than 8/14. We'll see what that brings.

I was just checking out the Centurion website...$125 + "one-day" license for the 100 mile ride.

What is the price for the HHH and DD? It was $60 for the RTL...

And in related news, The National Collegiate Cycling Association (NCCA) announced that the cycling team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison won the bid to host the 2010 and 2011 Collegiate Road National Championship races. The proposed 2016 Olympic road race course may be used.

^^ cool news about UW-Madison hosting the collegiate nationals.

Centurion update: August 7-8, 2010 is now listed as the Madison race date on the centurioncycling.com (http://centurioncycling.com) website.

No more details yet on the website or facebook page.

Those of us who need to plan our event schedules a year in advance would like to know if it's on the Saturday or Sunday!

The WSJ article describes it as a "centurion race." I don't know what this means as a race but I read Cycling Plus and I've never seen anything called a centurion event. Is it a timed century ride, or an audax, or like a 1-day Classic, or what?

Ok, just checked out the website, it's modeled on a gran fondo. Centurion seems to be the organizer's brand.

OK, info is coming out little by little. The 25-mile race is on Saturday 8/7. The 50 and 100-mile races are Sunday 8/8.
