Southwest - Arizona bicycling books?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello
Are there any books showing good road routes and rides in Arizona. I have looked in local bookstores in Seattle but it is slim pickens for out of area guides.

Try Landis Cyclery in Arizona. They used to be a little Schwinn Shop in the 60's, I was very little then as well. Now they know everything about bikes in AZ.

The NORCO website, Canadians of all things, has a travelling team that just posted reviews of Sedona, Flagstaff, Scottsdale and Sierra Vista. Google Norco and enjoy.

Thank you for the suggestions. I ordered Cycling Arizona and another one called Road Biking in New Mexico.
Take a look at www.azbikeped.org (http://www.azbikeped.org), it has some useful info with maps and links. I haven't taken any of the rides in Cycling Arizona but I do own it and like it.

Go to roadbikerides.com P.S.- if you want a good ride in AZ, just get out of Phoenix. Go to the outshirts of town, or Flagstaff or Sedona. I don't know of a road bk. of AZ myself.(I live here)

Great thread, thanks. It inspired me to order "Cycling Arizona" and "A Guide to the Best Bike Rides in Tucson, Arizona."

I was just looking at a route from Nogales AZ to Bisbee on Forest road 61 looked really fun.
A cave, ghost towns, visitor center, some climbing, and only 55 miles (till the end of the forest on the other side. )

It is dirt and you'll have a lot of fast Border Patrol company day and night. No services either.

After you got the Tucson book were you happy with it? I couldn't find any reviews for it and other books by the same publisher had very uneven reports.

I sure hope I have lots of Border Patrol comapny. Of course every non-cyclists thinks I am crazy. My Bail out will be Parker Lake road IE water or whatever.
Should be fun, there is also a cave to explore. I think this will be my first tour I will carry a map and a cue sheet.
Here are a few pictures from the border road. http://www.mooreaboutscottsdale.com/?act=gallery&ref=a0911204b06bbe4ef72e

Hey that is neat thanx. I like the Crown King. I want to do that in Spring minus storms.
AZ has some amazing routes that would be one huge book.
