I love riding in the fall. The air is great to breathe. The temperature is comfortable. Water bottles stay cool. It is all great until you hit wet leaves!!!!!!

Ugggh not paying attention on a ride went into a turn with a wet patch of leaves on the ground and bike went out from under me. No big damage scratches on pedal and need new bar tape (great excuse to rewrap) oh and a what can be best described as rope burn on my bum from friction of tights and road, also need new tights haha.

So as a reminder watch for them wet leaves when riding

truly sucks. glad everything is ok.

i was watching for them when i rode today. ended up making a wide turn around one huge patch int he middle of the trail. the big patches are the biggest problem, just try to avoid them.

Glad that you are okay. It is SOOOO easy to fall on wet leaves. Careful!

I don't like wet leaves either. The stupid things also fill up pot holes and gouges in the asphalt but don't provide enough support to ride over the now hidden holes. Phooey.

I was actually laughing about it. I slid straight on my butt in a sitting position. I probably looked like one of those super bike racers that slide across a track. All is good just needed to vent on it.

They are every bit as nasty as an ice patch. My commute is much slower than normal these days, and will continue to be throughout winter.

Yes, you laugh about it until you wake up in the middle of the night with the sheets stuck to the road rash on your butt and legs. ouch.

I hope the healing and rewrapping goes well!

Have to watch for ice too. I was commuting one morning. Relatively nice maybe low 40's high 30's and sunny. It had rained but the roads were dry. I went around a 90 degree turn. I was on the road before I knew it. There was a depression in the road that had water in it. Or rather ice. I wasn't looking for I figured it was water.

Makes riding the single speed MTB a challenge too, I keep spinning out on the uphills covered in wet leaves. :(

Plus, early in the morning railroad tracks can be frosty even if the road is not. Just another way to wipe out!
