Yeah, the carpenter/delivery guys in that video had nice rigs.
I've rarely seen anyone carrying anything big other than surfboards on the streets today.
Other than myself, that is. But I'm a weirdo foreigner.

Makes me sad for our own culture. Look at old pictures from the 50's of everyday people in the US and see what we've done to ourselves.

The culture is what it is, you can't "save" it. You can, however, ride the heck out of your bike, and teach your children to ride.

My town is as un-cycling-friendly as a town can be, and on our rides this weekend, I saw more bikes than I've ever seen before, both children and adults. It was a beautiful day.

I do believe a corner has been turned, and a new "bike boom" is growing. Things come around.

In some cultures, men hold hands even today, as a show of friendship. I believe this is common in areas of the Indian subcontinent. On the other hand, girls around here hold hands all the time, and I live in Boston.

:rolleyes: I've seen that. Men holding hands in parts of Atlanta. I don't believe they are from India.

We sold wooden shoes in the drugstore where I worked in Holland, Michigan in the 70's. I walked or pedaled to work. Customers (4th generation Friesians) thought I was a 'foreigner' or other oddity. Later immigrants ( 1950's)were escaping post-war austerity, bicycling and other deprivations, I suppose For a while.. There was a bikestore in our building.
