Who's with me? I want to go some time in December, mid-week.

Actually, I don't think any of you can hold my ski wheel. You pathetic ski Freds.

You know, I may actually even get my Volkls tuned for this. Oh yes.

I think pcad needs to lay off the crack.

And me and my snowblades would completely pwn you. As long as you stay outta the powders.

All too true. But Pcad's wobbly little stick legs won't allow him to make his way down the steeper, longer slopes we have here, so if you want to ski with the king, it looks like Hunter Mountain is one of the few options.

Of course you'd be planting your head on the World Cup Ice of Hunter Mtn.

On the other hand Pcad has mastered the powder snow thing. Which did take about 9 trips out west. You should have seen my friggin head plants.

I just got this terrible vision that somewhere there is a parallel universe with a website called skiforums.net, and in it there are many posts about ruing and coveting....many pictures of Pacad's ski schwag....a never-ending thread called "ask pcad anything..."....some carbon fiber ski poles with horrendous cable routing..an online ski supplier called skisdirect....a banned user named botto....

Is it possible that Pcad could be dominating two online sports forums?

It's all too horrifying to contemplate.

Question. When did you last ski mad River?

Probably 6-7 years back. It was all open. We even skiied that waterfall death 'trail' of icy mogul doom.

I wasn't really all that impressed with the place to tell you the truth. I'm sure its charms may become more apparent if you're a local and you catch it on fresh powder days.

I despise Hunter.

I've skied there quite a bit over the past 30+ years, 90%+ of the time mid-week. It's really a great mountain without the crowds. I've had some amazing days there. With that high speed quad on the front you can log some serious vertical in a day. Even the double chair on the steeper back side isn't a long ride. I'm generally fried by 3PM or so.

However I would encourage you to badmouth the place to everyone you know, particularly on the ski forums. Fewer Snow Freds for me to dodge.

Snow is snow you idiots. You crank 'em down and you carve it up. I've skiied all over North America, from waist deep powder Utah steeps to Sierra cement to Killington in the rain (it was 22ºF at the time by the way), and it's all the same: carve and turn or crash and burn.

Of course the snow is better in the American West than in the Northeast (much of the time, not always). Regardless skiing is skiing.

Ask Bode Miller how much he cares about powder. He's the guy that skis 80 mph on courses the whacko Euros hose the F down to make them nice and 'firm' for the ski races he participates in.

Jay is far from NYC, I've been 3 times. I can say probably some of the best glades on the east but still way too cold for it to face north like that. That CA / VT feel oh boy, talk about wind. Anyways, sorry I'll never ride Hunter, I'd rather go West to PA and hit the poconos bunny slopes doing 30 runs then driving home by 11am before I set my snowboard down at Hunter.
