Classic & Vintage - Another Kuwahara thread

Anybody know anything about this Kuwahara? I apologize for not having more information or pictures, but the person selling it doesn't know much and it looks to have very few original parts.

The asking price is $150 and am I'm seriously considering making the plunge as the frame itself (mostly what I'm after) looks to be in pretty remarkable condition.

I'll be going over there after work, which will be in about 4 hours, so any recommendations or advice on this brand of Japanese steel is most welcome.

i dont know where you are at, but if its a runner that bike would sell pretty quick for 150 here (bay area).

I bet the SS hipster threw out a good Suntour index 7 speed that came on that bike.
See if he'll throw it in with the purchase.

$150 nowadays is not much for a good steel frame from Japan and alum.wheels.

It looks like it has either stamped rear dropouts, or the derailleur hangar has been hacked off. The former suggests a low-end frame, check for a tubing decal. The latter possibility is worse, but I'd skip it either way unless the seller will consider an offer.

Now that I've looked again, my money is on the stamped dropouts, it's probably hi-ten steel. The spray-painted rat traps and front skewer don't do anything for me either...

Grrrrrr, looks like I was unknowning embroiled in a bidding war. 'T has been swooped from my clutches, by somebody more covetous that I. CURSES!

In any event, anybody care to estimate the year of manufacture?

I'd not really call it a blown deal, considering the seller gave me their word that I'd have a chance to least make an offer after checking it out. My 8 to 5 weekdays( in the vast majority of cases) prevent me from conducting vintage frame tansactions on an ad hoc basis.

Usually the best classic bikes seem to find you at a place or time you least expect for next to nothing in price.
