I bought this new in '82 to get a softer ride than my Aerospace Pro I mentioned in an earlier post. I put a few miles on it, but for the most part it's been sitting in my shed. Just put new bearings, new tires & tubes, new grips and brakes, it rides great. Cleaning out the storage areas and I'm hoping to find what it's worth. Any opinions are welcome. Thanks!

$150-175 depending on your local market.
There is another thread on this model in the last week. Several put the value of that bike at $300. I was not in that camp. But your bike is just as nice. $175 to $200 around here. What tubing is used on the frame of this bike?

An 82 Olympic is probably a straigt gauge Chromoly frame, Champion #5. That bike is in nice shape so I'd try for $200, but be prepared to be negotiable. As has been said, it depends on your market.
If your market is Raleigh, NC then the price is $30 but I'll give you $50 :D

Thank you, I found that and other discussions before I posted. Wanted to post my '82 to see if there was any difference. Tubing is the Champion #5. Market is Portland Or. Pretty bike friendly town. Posted a 2002 KHS Sport on Monday night and sold it Tues Am to first looker for only $50 less than I paid.
Thanks for all your ideas. I've got a few more bikes I may post soon. They take up waaaaay too much room to hang on to them.

Heh, yeah, McGuyver did it.

I would replace it as it could do some damage to the clamp area. You can find a replacement at your local bike shop for about $3.
Champion 5 is the lowest (worst) grade of Champion tubing material. Still decent, but at the low end. Champion tubing goes from #5 to #1 (the best).
Portland market is insane, to the point that I might take our estimates and DOUBLE them.

+1. I'd be scared of ripping my hamstring on it.
