Hi folks,

I'm looking to replace my Kinesis Road-D aluminum fork with a carbon fiber fork, but don't particularly want to change from my current, threaded, headset. Any recommendations for a threaded CF fork? I haven't replaced the fork 'til now, due to lack of $$, but have scrounged together some money to do so.

I'd also welcome any comments on whether moving to a threadless setup would be more prudent. Weight isn't the primary issue for me, though it's not irrelevant. I've got an aluminum frame, and that combined with the aluminum fork really beats me up over longer distances.

Thanks!

Aside from the fork itself, if you're happy with the rest of the threaded setup then there's no need to change. Threaded forks are still being made although they're getting scarce. Nashbar has the Easton EC30 (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=86&subcategory=1182&brand=&sku=8740&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=) on sale.

I pick up a Trek CF fork made Icon. It was the only 1" threaded one I could find.

The Icon Air Rail is/was a decent fork and came standard on many Lemonds and some Treks up until a couple years ago. I have it on my Maillot Jaune and love it. It gonna be tough finding good (new) options unless you go threadless.

Edit - I stand corrected - a quick search found some good ideas - here's one...

LickNotes: Profile has a crash replacement program that allows you to replace damaged goods at 30% below suggested retail price.

heh...that's still probably like, 20% above wholesale....still, a nice deal for crash replacement. :)
