Framebuilders - Framebuilding OT: What else comes out of your shop?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So, what else do you build?
The life long passion my father got me hooked on is free flight model airplanes.
Old school stuff, balsa sticks, Japanese tissue paper, and rubber bands. No carbon fiber, mylar, ultra thin aluminum, radio control, and the like . Just flying Chinese lanterns (I do have micro transmitters installed and have had a plane land over 17 miles away from the launch site).

Not yet a framebuilder, but I'm building a two-place airplane. I hope to have it flying by spring.
These photos are about a year old. It's now on its landing gear with engine mount and engine, wings, horizontal stabilizer and elevator, and rudder installed. Next are the ailerons and flaps, canopy, and panel.

When one flies away on you it's both the greatest and worst experience.
Nothing more beautiful than watching one disappear, but you are also watching god only knows how many hours turn into a dot in the sky too.

Restoring a 1980 Suzuki GS1000S. Rebuilt the engine, painted everything myself, home zinc plating the hardware. Finishing up the paint work these days...should be on the road before the end of the year.

Wild guess, RV-6?
Similar, but lighter. It's a Zenith CH 601 XL Zodiac that meets the FAA's Light Sport Aircraft requirements. It has a gross weight of 1320 pounds, 120 KIAS cruise speed, 1,000 fpm rate of climb @ sea level at gross weight, 5 gph fuel consumption, 450 pound full fuel paylod, 650 statute mile range.
Nessism, beautiful work on the Suzuki's engine.

Yep. The Velocities are really nice.

I grew up in a PA-18 and my brother and I share a 301 Libelle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasflügel_H-201).
+1 about Nessism's Suzuki.

I also build furniture and restore old motorcycles. Both are merely distractions that usually end up taking on a life of their own.

Anything in wood. I finally finished my trimaran and got it sailing last summer. I make all kinds of furniture, all kinds of woodworking tools. Have a spinning wheel for the wife that is way overdue. Motorcycle frames a while back. Anything that can be turned on a wood lathe or metal lathe. Lots of old machine tools that are being reconditioned. Canoes, paddles. Bamboo fly rods. bows, arrows (duh). An iceboat. Knives. Just for starters.
It's endless, and I have kinda got it out of control. I finish lots of stuff but stuff does also hang around. I've actually dropped my internet connection to get out in the shop and finish more stuff.

That's dedication.
Lot's of beautiful cool stuff from everyone respectively. Framebuilders are a creative group it seems.
Hey Peterpan1, save some of that borrowed bandwidth to put some pics of your stuff!

How many hours go into a fly rod?
+1 on you spending some bandwidth on some images too.
I'm not sure if one can upload images from the library computers, but I will give it a try.
While it was many moons ago you can see my bamboo fenders here:
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=69234&page=16
This is a classic example of a home made thing. Turned out great, but another time I would make several changes. They will either work or not, and by the third iteration, at most, one should have a very highly developed product. The basic bamboo and glass fender was fine, but another time I would make it narrower and thinner, and I would have some further ideas on mounting, and I would make an eccentric mold so that the resulting curve of the fender was closer to what I want it to be, not that it was bad as is.
I have yet to make my first frame, but I make furniture in my spare time. I'm also a high school computer science teacher.

Nice! Is that the shop with the double garage doors or is the structure behind it the shop?

Ha I wish!
Oh man It is much worse! Orginally I had a tandem garage where I would have a 12x24 space for my bikes, But she pulled rank on me and instead we are putting in a 8x20' Swimspa ( kayak test tank I call it)

The bike/boat shop is going to be in a 16x20' shed out back.
