Hello there,
I recently purchased a CILO frame with Columbus Nebra tubing of ebay and have decided to make it my winter project and first complete build up of a bike. I believe I have all the tools I need and hopefully all the advice I will need from all of you on BF. I know this bike isn't vintage per say, but I didn't really think it belonged in the other forums either and because I'm more comfortable with you C&Vers I thought I'd post here. (note: frame is currently being shipped)
The frame geometry is as follows:
top tube: 58.5cm C to C
seat tube: 59cm C to C
rear hub spacing: 130mm
chain stay length: 40.5cm
head tube length: 180mm which takes a 1" fork
english threaded BB
Parts I have amassed so far:
Shimano 600 RD-6401
Shimano 600 FD-6401
Shimano 600 Brake Calipers BR-6403 SLR-S
Shimano 600 Crankset 172.5mm 39/53
Shimano 600 8 speed casette 12-23
Some sweet blue and yellow speckled (not sure how to describe it) bar tape to match the frame
Parts I need:
Shimano 600 Sti Levers (I could easily go for DA 7700 or Ultegra 5500 and just use my dad's extra 9 speed casette)
A Square Tapered Bottom Bracket
Clipless Pedals
Bars
A Fork*
A Headset**
Stem***
Soooo... some questions now:
*As per the suggestion of a BF member I am going with a carbon fork with an aluminum steerer. Based on the head tube length of 180mm I'm going to assume that I need about 220mm of steerer tube. Furthermore, the same BF member suggested a rake of up to 43mm which hasn't been to hard to spot. Does anyone have some reasonably priced forks that fit this description to suggest. So far I have been looking at some Kinesis forks as well as some Nashbar forks that are on sale. On top of this...should I go for a threaded or threadless fork
**As with the fork threaded or threadless?
***You get it
Basically I was wondering what you think would make sense, threaded or threadless.
Thanks in advance for any input. I'll probably be on these forums a lot in search of help, advice, and to post any progress. To keep things less cluttered in the forums I'll just use this thread from here on out. Thanks again...and here are some pics:
