How is your bicycling weather?

Parker, CO 10/29/2009

19" so far, officially. More on the way. Got stuck in the car this morning - could not see the curb in a big parking lot, so, drove right over the cement curb with my Neon. Glad I had my snow shovel and kitty litter. Rocked the car out with a push from another guy. Side streets so slick one could ice skate.

The city is pretty much closed down.

Hey snow God, it is only October.

So, how is YOUR bicycling weather?

A little brisk this morning -- note the current temperature of 48 degrees. Other than that, another hoe-hum day in paradise!

EDIT: Found out you can't say "hoe" with just the first two letters. Came up with astericks!

No rain in the ten day forecast. Highs around 80 through Saturday then just under 70 for several days. Of course, there will be a completely different forecast by Saturday.

Weather is relative. I commute to work on a bicycle and recently moved to California from Maine. In Maine I would use the bike with temps over 0F and as long as the ice/snow on the road was not too deep. This morning in San Jose, the temp was 45, and there was a light breeze, many people at work were surprised that I was still riding my bike in the 'winter'.

It was cool yesterday, 50s and 60s, but cool to me is not all that cool to my son in Colorado Springs. The last three club rides were rather nice.

We've actually had a very dry autumn. Warmer than average this week.
We only get snow about once a year. A few inches at most.

Perfect riding conditions here as long as you don't mind riding in the rain. Seriously, the temps are perfect, but the rain just keeps coming.

It was 39 F when I went for my ride at 4:30 this morning. Only supposed to get to 65 or so today. Cold for Phoenix in October. Supposed to be close to 80 by Saturday, though.:)

Pretty cool, wet, and depressing around here. I kinda wish it would either get a few degrees colder as I like dealing with snow better than rain, or maybe just dry up a bit. Sigh.

Cool and about 8" of snow. Got the studded tires (Nokia 294) on yesterday and gave them a short workout. The icy bumps are the biggest pain in the ride, but the studs grip the ice well and the tires work well in snow.

19" so far, officially. More on the way.

I'm up the hill from you, at a little under 9,000 feet, in Bailey. Because of this weird 'banana belt' effect, (apparently we're sheltered by Mt. Evans) we only have about 6 inches on the ground although the roads are a mess. My wife slid our Pathfinder off the road and through a signpost this morning. She's fine, but the car...not so much.

It's coming down thick and fast as I write this though, so who knows where we'll be by tomorrow.

Near record heat in West Central FL. Rode 30 miles tonight starting at 5:00 and the heat index was in the low 90's. Too bad daylight savings is going away, the nice after work rides are about over. Some cooler weather would be nice, but not Colorado 'cool'. :) That white stuff is not good for riding.

Oh well; 239 miles in the last 5 days anyway.

I am also up the hill from DnvrFox at 9000ft in Silverthorne The snow stayed east of the divide for the most part for this area.
We had light snow going sideways in the wind today.
Enjoyed? my first day on the trainer in the garage.

Snow dumped about 9" in a couple days. This one should stick till spring. Lots of fender benders with people driving too fast for that snow over an ice base. But, it is forecast to go below 0F in a couple days so the ice will start to get worn down and sublimated.

No one riding outside except for a very, very few who have wide, studded tires and prepared bikes. For the rest of us it is trainers and spin classes.

That could be any day of the year in Silverthorne! I took off the Blue River after paddling in a snowstorm on July 4th one year. Put on the river outside town in the upper 60s, took off just above Green Mountain Res. in a driving snow.

How is your bicycling weather?

I'm heading out for a ride with friends this morning. It's 63F with 20-25 mph winds. I'm not real fond of the wind but I can't waste the nice temps this time of the year.
