You'll probably get more responses on the "Appraisal" forum. That's funny, I was just looking at the Miyata catalogs for another bike, so I looked up 85 Miyata Pro. Very nice bike, and I would think very desirable if in good original condition. The catalog shows it in pepper red with yellow head tube and chrome fork. Suntour Superbe drivetrain. Ukai 20-A rims and Dia-Compe brakes. Nice bike. If the paint is great with little rust and the components are working, I'd say upwards of 350 on the Left Coast. If it shows normal wear, it's probably is more like 250. But, the West Coast seems to be 25-50 higher then other markets.

Missed the "mint condition" part. 350-400 IMHO. I should have mentioned that I am no authority and you will get more replies soon from the "vintage intelligentsia" because there are many whole would like to have this bike, myself included.:thumb:
If you paid under $400, I'd say you did well. That is a fantastic bike. I have a pretty mint '86, and aside from being a little too big, it's my best-riding bike.
You'd get more responses if you included pictures.
Plus we just like to look.

If you bought that one on the Toronto CL, it was listed as a complete bike in Hamilton last week for $250 with a Superbe Pro group on it. I was the first to respond to the guy in Hamilton but I passed on it because I didn't have time to get out to Hamilton...plus it isn't my size.

Hrm, the original ad is still up, I guess the guy forgot to take it down:

Not bad for $250. I'd snap that up if one showed up on my local CL. I haven't seen many 50cm Miyata frames.

I saw an 86 frame set for 250 a couple of months ago on the SF Bay Area CL that was my size. This thing looked like it had just come off the factory floor. I tried to contact the seller, but it was gone within hours.

As a complete bike it's worth WAY over $250 if it's as good as it looks. If I'm not seeing flaws that it has, $250even is still good. It's a Pro, not a Team and not my fav. Pro either. It took a relative down-grade by then, on the other hand the chrome fork adds universal appeal so that's a wash.
As a frame & fork, oddly enough, STILL 2 to 250. I see it all the time, buyers are quick to by a frame, slow to buy a bike. Makes no sense at all if given a fairly equal choice, see it all the time and folks do it here too, just about every day. I have too, not anymore though unless it was a special Italian model.
