Cool site. http://www.flynnlives.com/
Did you see the bootleg of that same trailer when it was shown at ComiCon last year? Its working title at the time was "TR2N", with the top half of the 2 looking like the regular "O". I still watch it just for the crowd reaction and the "insider" feel to it.
Here's one version of that video, edited to keep the screen a consistent size. The quality sucks, but they had to zoom in a couple hundred percent to do it, too -- the original looked like it was shot from a coat pocket.

I wonder how much the computer industry owes itself to the original movie.

I would like to have seen the crowd reaction at Comicon in person.
Thanks for the links. Keep 'em coming! :)

Oh, definitely. Imagine having sat down to see what the new Witch Mountain movie would be about (frankly, if I were there, I wouldn't have been at that discussion) and the now-classic barren computer landscape swooped onto the screen.
THEN finding Flynn's Arcade, complete with playable Space Paranoids machines? Dude...
Thanks for the links. Keep 'em coming! :)
That's all I've got for now; I don't even see how to get a link to the trailer like you did.
Here's a slideshow from this year's Comicon, though. If you're like me, and want to be surprised more by the actual movie, don't watch it:

Oh, okay.. ;) Watch these in the order I've listed.
The original trailer from 1982:

Newer style trailer, posted in '06:

Even newer, posted a year ago, after the Comicon announcement. This guy picked music by Daft Punk since they were doing the Tron Legacy soundtrack:

I think I'm hearing a Wilhelm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_scream) Scream (http://www.hollywoodlostandfound.net/wilhelm/) mixed into the yellow lightcycle's engine sound right about at 1:03, just as it swerves to dive into the spiral.
