Bicycle Mechanics - Spinergy Tilium Carbon SS...

Hallo Forum,

I'm close to 100 kg (200 pounds) and so far I've used my old Spinergy REV-X wheels without problems. Are Spinergy Tilium Carbon SS of the same strength and durability? Does somebody know if there's a weight limit on Tilium Carbon SS wheels?

You should be OK with the Tiliums. I've used the XAERO and I also own a set of Tiliums. I think the XAEROs are stronger than the REVX... Of course this is not an endorcement :) I'd call Spinergy for exact rider weight numbers...

I just bought a set of Campi Vento G3 wheels, and took them for a short 30 mile ride on Friday. The wheels felt "wobbly" when riding over small patches of sand (I was riding on black top, and the sand was result of dried up puddles).
On a down hill, the bike did not feel the same it used to at 40 mph, and when taking corners it seemed the wheels flexed quite a bit (enough for me to feel on the handle bar).

I weight 205 lbs (95kg) and ride a Bianchi. I replaced the wheels due to an accident that cracked by previous Mavics and landed me with a dislocated shoulder. Hence, I'm not sure if part of this is just me...

Am I too heavy for these wheels??? Any advise???

The XAERO (lites) uses the same PBO spoke technology as the Tilium. Same hubs too. the only real difference is that the XAERO's POB spokes are mounted into the aluminum rim whereas the Tilium has that carbon 45mm dish. The Tilum uses a "built-up" design for layering the carbon fiber that allows a strong and thick carbon area and that is where the PBO spoke is anchored. Claimed to be stronger than bladder designs like that of ZIPP and others... Can't say about that but they sure seem strong... I also own some ZIPP 404s so I'll probably find out which is stronger :) eventually :)

I rode my XAERO (not the light but the original PBO stuff) to the point that there were no rim-walls left from all the braking (miles). The wheels are still true, the hubs still roll smooth... Just brake surfaces gone... I plan to use the hubs as parts for my Tiliums (but if the Tiliums are like the XAREOs the rolling parts will outlast the brakeing surfaces too!)
