Southern California - SoCal Outlet Mall question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've lived in LA and now OC for about 5 years now and i've never been to an outlet mall, but I have a bunch of friends heading to Cabazon or Camarillo tomorrow and I might tag along. I know they have some sporting good stores in outlet malls but can anyone tell me if either one of them offer cycling specific clothing? namely bibs and jerseys? my friends don't cycle so they really have no idea what i'm talking about.
thanks all

Nope. Unless Coach makes jerseys and bibs.:D They have Nike and Adidas stores. But neither have cycling specific clothing, mostly athletic shoes and warm up suits.
Sometimes you can find good bargains, but sometimes the mall is cheaper. Now I just look online. I can always find cheaper things without the nearly 10% sales tax!

I don't know about the outlet malls you mentioned, but from experiences elsewhere, you're unlikely to find jerseys or bib shorts--or, frankly, much else you couldn't find in a thousand other places.
There are, however, some other ways to buy cycling clothing inexpensively at retail in southern California.
Voler has an actual factory outlet (http://www.velowear.com/help.aspx#CatCode29) up in Grover Beach; it's only open on weekdays, but when I visited, it had a good selection at very modest prices, especially if you're flexible about colors and prints.
Pearl Izumi (http://www.pearlizumi.com/cms/index.php?page=factory-stores) also has several "factory stores," including a few in southern California.
I understand Canari doesn't have a permanent outlet store, but their warehouse sales are occasionally mentioned in this forum.
Interestingly enough, I was at Cabazon last month with my wife. While she was shopping, I was basically just walking around doing nothing.
There was one high end store (Rock & Republic) that had full cycling attire on the mannequin outside so I walked in and they actually sold a full on cycling jersey and shorts. It was expensive though and the gear basically looked pretty Fred-like so I didn't buy them. It would be like if a guy wore full on Louis Vuitton logo wear...kinda ridiculous.
RVD.

thanks for replies all, guess i'll give the trip a miss, Rock and Republic i think sponsors the Rock Racing team www.rockracing.com , interesting to know that they offer the kit at the outlets lol, those online outlets look very promising, would love to check out the voler one especially but it's 3 hours away according to google maps

ah you're right. the rock racing team attire is what they were selling. i don't remember the prices but i think it was pretty much on par with high end gear (~$100 for a jersey, ~$150 for bibs? but don't quote me on that one...i'm recalling more from impression than actual memory).

Not exactly bike specific, but how about Under Armour shirts?
