Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I think I already know the answer to this one, but it can't hurt to get some sage advice from the forum as well. I am cobbling together a cyclocross bike, and trying to use up as much of my parts bin as possible. The frame came with what looks like a Veloce or Daytona bottom bracket. Can I just plunk on my Chorus square-taper cranks? I think the spindle is a different width than the Chorus cranks were designed for, which will cause chainline problems. Correct? Or can I bolt them on and go? Thanks for any help you can provide.

It will cause chainline problems if it's not the same as the specced width.

You need a Chorus or Record BB with a 102mm spindle and ISO taper.

You seem to be implying they came with non ISO taper.

I'm smarter than that. All Campy BBs have an ISO taper, but just in case some other brand was considered, it must be the same length with an ISO taper. Some people find a cheap 103mm JIS and think it will work.

They only 103 i'm aware of is that crappy sugino bb for their rds. I'd like to get my hands on another 103 dura ace square taper for my commuter. Sadly they don't seem to be available, even nos anywhere.

Thanks, everyone. Looks like I am in the market for a new bottom bracket. Actually, I have a decent Chorus one with intact bearings but one of the cups is cracked. If anyone has a spare pair of Italian threaded cups that need a home, send me a message.
