World Champion signs three-year deal

The BMC Racing Team today announced the signing of current World Professional Road Champion Cadel Evans to a three-year contract. The Australian was released from his Silence-Lotto squad by mutual agreement with the team on Saturday.

"Cadel brings a wealth of experience in the Grand Tours to the team," BMC Racing Team co-owner Jim Ochowicz stated.

"As I said earlier, our team will have multiple chances to measure ourselves against the greatest teams in the world. We are pleased that we will have the opportunities to send out our most successful riders, now including Cadel Evans, to tackle these challenges," Ochowicz added.

Could be exactly what he needs... a fresh start with a new team riding with others of similar age and experience. Good move.

Yeah and he'll get to wear a Hincapie designed kit. I'm sure that was the tipping point.

So if he paid a year's salary to buy himself does that mean:

a) he was making sh*t before
b) he's making a boatload now or
c) He wanted out even if it meant essentially netting zero in 2010?

d) he doesn't blow his salary on cocaine, fast cars, and hookers; thus, he has enough saved up to buy out his contract without busting the bank.

e) some things are more important than money. such as, winning bike races.

When you're a pro they kinda go hand in hand....unless you're a U.S. based pro.
