Folding Bikes - SuperBrompton / Ultimate Folding Bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know this has been discussed before, but if you have the cash... and want the ultimate Brompton-style folding bike... Len Rubin is open for business.

I have no connection to this... but if I had a ton of money laying around, I would probably get one just because it's a cool idea.

I wonder why Len doesn't have just one point of contact on the Internet to promote his wares. Just doing a quick Google his UFB site (http://www.ufbusa.com/) is a real mess, plus we have this http://homepage.mac.com/lenrubin/PhotoAlbum1.html and now a Cragslist post...

Yeah... I'm not sure either. The bike is pretty cool, but without proper marketing I have no idea how he expects it to sell. A decent contact site (just pictures and videos with a contact link) doesn't take much effort, but you want it to be clean and easy to navigate.

I'm guessing he's going for word of mouth more than anything... but in this day and age... it's so easy to go beyond that with a basic web presence.

I had a chance to speak with Len earlier this year about his bikes/business plan. He has some good products, that's for sure. But the entire advertising campaign including the web presence is not done professionally. I actually have clients for his products (from overseas) that decided not to get some work done because they could not take the vision statement as a serious one.

Too bad. More he sells, more affordable the items become. We all lose if he is not doing well...

You know... the sad thing is that he would probably a get a lot more mileage out of a simple blog like WordPress... or even just an account on blogspot. Post a picture of a current build... add a few words describing it. That's all it really takes.

My guess is that the guy is so engrossed in what he's doing that this stuff doesn't even come to mind. And you're right... the more he makes, the cheaper it will be which would be an advantage for all of us.

Are you reading this, Len? (I seem to remember that he used to be an active member on bikeforums.net)
